I've been reading the boards since I found out I have HPV a few months ago.
I'd like to thank everyone for their responses as well as the people who post questions. I've been pretty down on myself since I found out (as I've seen a lot of other are/were as well). When I found out I had HPV I told the person I was with and things ended with her.
Can anyone help with some advice or stories of their own? I'm just afraid to go through the rejections between here and there... Dating can be complicated even if you are not infected.
I actually have a date tonight who doesn't know anything about this. I've tried the sites and they work as far as you know what your are searching for.
I haven't dated since and I feel like I'd be lying to someone if I went out on a date and didn't tell them right away. I don't want to get connected to someone and then drop this "bomb" on them and I especially don't want to pass it on. I've always had the dream of falling in love, getting married, having rambunctious kids... I do agree with what someone wrote earlier about it being a filter though.
Has anyone tried those dating sites for people with stds? I'm 24 and I feel like I'm missing out on a lot if I cut dating out completely. If someone cares enough about you, then it doesn't matter. I did have the thought earlier (I know it may seem out there...) but can't men get the hpv vaccine?
I have read research and 1 and 5 people have this disease. You can ate and take the risk Actually I just recently found out that I have Herpes. To answer your question about "whens the right time to tell a person you have HPV? I have to admit, I was scared in telling him but I went through it anyway. What's crazy is that I find myself rather having high-risk HPV (cervical cancer). That although this low-risk HPV does not really pose any serious health conditions later down the road, I'd still rather have the one that causes cancer than deal with some superficial warts that can easily be treated.
